Basic Care for Wood Wick Candles

1. Trim the Wick

Begin by trimming the wood wick to about 1/4 inch before lighting.

2. Find a Flat Surface

Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts.

3. Light with Care

Use a lighter to gently ignite the wood wick, allowing it to catch flame evenly.

4. Let the Wax Pool

This step is very important for the longevity of your candle. The first time you light a woodwork candle, make sure it burns long enough for a full melt pool to form until it reaches the edges of the candle container, before blowing it out. This will ensure an even burn and will prevent tunneling.

5. Enjoy the Crackling Ambiance

Revel in the soothing crackling sound as the wood wick burns, creating a cozy atmosphere.

6. Monitor and Trim

Keep an eye on the wick’s length and trim it if it exceeds 1/4 inch to maintain optimal burning conditions.

7. Extinguish Safely

When finished, use a snuffer or carefully blow out the flame. Avoid moving the candle until the wax solidifies.

Follow these steps for a delightful experience with your wood wick candle.
